Cheers Bebi for that link our Missie is unwell again,I don`t know whats happening with her,she put alot of weight on when we got the other cat then she has gone all bone again:o( It cost us 64 for the vet to say she needs worming, but we have wormed her twice now last time was just three week back... I don`t know what to do next, I will have a good read of the link and I have added it to my Favs.....

What the vets don't advertise is that worming examinations are suposed to be free (well, they used to be). If you specifically book a worming examination, all they charge you for is the medication needed. I've done this for years with my cats, you get a free checkover and only pay for the worming meds (that the vet will have administered for you heh). Double check with your local vets, it's been a while since I booked mine in for one, it may have changed.

I really hope you get to the bottom of what's wrong with Missy, having a poorly pet is awful. Has she been coughing up hairballs lately? They can cause weight loss. It could even be down to stress if you've recently got another cat, has her behaviour changed any?

Quote:

Hairballs Can Jeopardize Your Cat's Health
By: Jane R. Bicks, D.V.M

Cats spend up to 1/3 of their waking hours self-grooming. The tiny barbs
on a cat's tongue pull loose hair from it's coat and those hairs are
swallowed. Because hair is very difficult to digest, it compacts with
undigested food in the intestines.

The accumulation becomes a source of irritation if it is not eliminated in the
litter box or coughed up. The result is messy fur-like, cigar-shaped forms on
the floor or furniture. Some surgically removed hairballs are almost 3 inches
in diameter.

Although you may not see hairballs, there may be a significant accumulation
in your cat's stomach and intestines!

Signs of hairball problems:

Fur-like, cigar-shaped clumps of fur on floor or furniture.
Dry, hacking cough.
Vomiting after meals.
Preoccupation with eating plants or grass.
Hair entwined with the feces.
Dry dull coat and/or excessive shedding.
Poor appetite and/or weight loss.
Constipation or diarrhea.

Common Treatments:

Single focus products do not address a cat's entire system.

Mineral oil or petroleum lubricants are petrochemical products

Large amount of fiber can decrease intestinal absorption of nutrients
and may result in malnourished animal

Enemas for constipation requires tranquilization and can be
dangerous.

Awwww hun *hugs* I know exactly what you mean, we're now down to one cat as Cuddles (the eldest) has gone on the missing list. We're besides ourselves, it's been about a month now. We're also looking for another kitten, we've asked a friend locally who has a female cat and when she has kittens they're going to let us know. We still miss little Davi so much too, it's been 4 months now but we still expect him to appear every day.
