Big Brother

I can't believe I actually did this, but we sat and watched the BB show last night. It was the first one where they welcomed the housemates. I've always refused to watch it before - probably because the only one I've seen is the first series and that was sooo boring. Anyways this series looks like it could be a laugh - half of the housemates are completely bonkers (one, Pete, has tourettes!) and there are two blatantly gay blokes (Shahbaz & Richard) and two blokes who said tranvestites and gays scare them (George & Mikey) LOL

Personally I want Shahbaz to win - he's the "Paki Poof" (his words) and he sounds hysterically funny with a Scottish accent...

The seventh series of Big Brother kicked off with promises that life in the house over the next 13 weeks will be "more twisted than ever".

Host Davina McCall, dressed in a black dress and coat, greeted the housemates live as they entered one by one to explore their new home. The house is the smallest yet and is deliberately designed to make life uncomfortable for the housemates in the longest-ever series.

First up was care worker Bonnie, 20, who said there would be "no sleeping, just partying".

Tourette's sufferer Pete, 24, a rock singer and cartoonist from London, was second to enter the house, entertaining photographers and the crowd with some unusual dance moves and high kicks.

Next to join them was posh 19-year-old student George, a former public schoolboy. Shahbaz, a 37-year-old from Glasgow, repeatedly said "Oh my God" on entering the house and appeared to hyperventilate briefly before jumping up and down on the spot.

Lea, 35, from Nottingham, entered the house wearing pink stilettos and a pink polka dot dress, while Imogen, 23, a former Miss Wales, smiled and kissed her fellow contestants, to be followed by Mikey, a 22-year-old model and software developer, who has already vowed he won't be doing any cleaning.

Dawn, 38, a self-proclaimed "exercise scientist" who said she "doesn't like people", gave the thumbs up to the crowd as she entered the house. Glyn, an 18-year-old part-time lifeguard from Wales, wore swimming trunks and carried a life float as he arrived.

Richard, 33, who was born and raised in Canada but now works as a waiter in London, said he was a "sexual terrorist" in an pre-show interview. Dance teacher Grace, a 20-year-old self-confessed "Sloane Ranger" from London, twirled and skipped her way into the house.

Lisa, 27, a Mancunian upholsterer who was born in Shanghai, made a relatively quiet entry to the house, while Sezer, a 26-year-old London stockbroker, entered wearing an all-white outfit and declared the house "Sezer's palace" as he walked through the door.

The final housemate, 24-year-old model Nikki from west London, said: "Everybody loves me. I'm just special."

I haven't watched BB since ... well, forever.

I was there when the craze came with a BB show in every country. In Switzerland it was only running once. I think we are too boring to watch on TV. Smilie_PDT

I also watched some German BB series (although I prefer to call them seasons Wink) But they messed up the rules so bad that it was hard to follow who actually got voted out because they would constantly invite the outvoted back and have a celebrity guest for a couple of days. Smilie_PDT

I think BB is soooooo over by now. I'm an enemy of reality shows, but apparently they are cheaper to produce.

BB is also still running here in the US, but I only watched like 2 episodes. They have secret couples (it's a mole-type situation) who constantly whisper to each other making it hard to watch, cause they just lay or sit there looking around suspiciously - it's rather a bore to me.
