Seriously. It's rained for the last two days and when we woke up this morning our cellar is now under nearly 2ft of water, which is still rising. The freezer is down the cellar, as with the tumble dryer. I've just been down helping Andy to rescue the large stainless steel bin full of dried catfood (the rubber lid had stayed on but the sack of catfood's still wet through) and I also stripped below the waist and climbed out on stepping stones to build a bridge for the cats with a ladder to get out (they're both curled up on the stone table yowling bless them) They won't let me go get them so it's a case of waiting and hoping they use it before the water covers it LOL
Anyways, this is short for obvious reasons, I have more stuff to do lol I'll post pictures later

I've been down the cellar again and rescued the cats. They'd both climbed onto a brick pillar and then onto a cabinet next to it so I had to strip again and put my trainers on and take the plunge. Luckily the water was only knee-height but it felt absolutely disgusting and freezing cold. I had to wade right round the table and try to persuade them down and when that didn't work I carried Mymble to Andy waiting on the stairs, and had to get Zac into a cat basket before he'd let me take him out. While I was down there I "swam" the freezer over to the steps for Andy to empty and made sure there was nothing else important down there that was going to get wet. Afterwards I came back up and went and had a long hot shower lol
The electric hasn't been turned off yet, although we were told that there wouldn't be a warning and to be prepared. The water seems to have slowed down too, it's still rising slightly but doesn't appear to be as fast as it has been. When the fire brigade spoke to us earlier they also said that the estimate of 200 houses was far below the true extent. Apparantly every house wih a cellar in our area has been affected.
Here are some pics. The two white things on the left are the tumble dryer and freezer.

Hooray the water's going down! lol I went down for a look when I got up this morning and there's only about 6 inch of water left. We're slightly uphill from the worst of it on this street so they've been pumping out those houses overnight, I could still hear the pumps going at 1am, and there's one running somewhere close as I'm typing this.
Yesterday was just mad, we went out into the street and every available parking spot was taken up with a transit van from some service company or another. It wasn't just the main companies, it looked as though every plumber in the area was out helping. The person who came here to check the cellar was an independant plumber, he just needed to go down as far as the water and check none of the meters were going to be immediately affected. I didn't realise until today how much it's going to smell... It seems that it's getting worse now the wet brickwork is uncovered. Also it's amazing how a cellar full of water can make the whole house feel cold and damp.
Here are some pics from last night/this morning

I meant to update this before, we managed to rescue the tumble dryer and extension socket, but the freezer is shafted.
It's started flooding again today. We caught it in time and have stood the tumble dryer on top of the stone table to be on the safe side. At the moment it's just covering the floor.
This is how it was when we realised it was flooding 1115am

Yes, those are what appear to be orbs in a couple of pics. I took the one at 1615 just before I'd rescued Zac, the water hadn't been disturbed for the one taken at 1317.
Here are two pictures I snapped off immediately after the last "orb" one because I noticed it in the display and wanted a couple of extras. Nothing in either though.

Last night I went for a walk with mum to look at the local rivers - it was truly stunning and we took loads of pictures and video. Link to these.
The water appears to be draining from the cellar, between 11pm last night and 8am this morning it's gone down slightly, so slightly you can only really tell by looking at the steps and where they're still wet from last night. It just covered the second step, and has now gone down to just below the lip of the second step.

A slightly belated update, but here it is. This morning the water has drained away completely again, just leaving the cellar damp and very smelly. We've been forecast more storms in the next few days so there may well be more pictures to come.
