|
|
How do I start making posts?
Forum view: Click on the "New Topic" button to create a new thread
Thread view: To reply click the "Reply" button, and to create a new thread, well I'm sure you get the idea
I want to reply quoting a certain post, how do I do that?
Look to the top right of the post in question, you'll see the "Quote" button:
This will quote the entire post in your reply. It is possible to edit the quoted post in the reply window, but please note that it is bad manners to alter the text to say something completely different to the original post. Any posters found doing this will be warned and have the post removed/altered.
You'll notice that there is some code at the beginning and end of the quote. If you remove this then the post will not quote correctly. It's easy to find as it's enclosed by square brackets and will start with [quote=(username)] and end with [/quote] This is called BBCode and is used often on the phpBB forums. The more you use the forum the easier it will be to recognise these codes, and understand how and where to use them. For ease of use there are buttons in the reply window which will manage most of the code for you. For example, if you wanted to place something in Bold font, highlight the text and click the "B" button.
Oops! I've made a mistake on one of my posts, can I fix this?
Yes of course. You can edit posts you've written yourself. The Edit button can be found next to the Quote button. Please note that if the post in question has been quoted before you edit it, this will not change. It is not possible to alter anyone else's posts unless it is done by Admin or a Moderator.

How do I Contact somebody privately?
There are a few ways of doing this.
Personal Message
This is a form of "internal email" and can be found by going to the Messages link at the top of the forum. It is set out in a basic email format, with an inbox, delivered box, sent box and saved box. Simply enter their username into the recipient line.
Alternatively you could use the PM button on the person's profile, and also at the bottom of each of their posts.
Profile example:
Base of post example:
Email
Clicking the Email button on someone's profile or post-base will open a write email page. This email will be sent to the email address on file for that person. It will not divulge your email address, all emails are sent via the email address listed for Administration.
The email will include the following before your message:
| Quote: |
Hello <recipient>,
The following is an email sent to you by <sender> via your account on
bebi.myfastforum.org. If this message is spam, contains abusive or other
comments you find offensive please contact the webmaster of the board at
the following address:
Caring for the Community <bebi_cftc@yahoo.co.uk>
Include this full email (particularly the headers). Please note that
the reply address to this email has been set to that of Bebi.
Message sent to you follows
|
Various Instant Messengers
If the person has an instant message screen name on file, there will be a button available on their profile and at each post-base. Currently the instant messengers supported by this site are:
ICQ
AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)
MSN Messenger
Yahoo Messenger
Please note that it is a personal choice whether or not to list an instant messenger or publicly list an email address, please respect that. CFTC does not encourage people to request this information.
Post in progress, please be patient
